The role of capital allocation in the recent credit crisis has now increased even more. Hence this is exactly the right time to discuss the key challenges and opportunities that will be raised.

This forum will highlight concerns relating to the implementation of Basel II, ensuring that risks are measured effectively and that the right amount of capital is set aside to cover those risks. It will be an opportunity for in-depth understanding and for updating the knowledge arising from the Basel II period.

Delegates can expect to receive quality industry knowledge from reputable financial leaders and use this one-off opportunity to look for advice or raise any of their own concerns for discussion.

The conference chairman from GARP Risk Academy will share his expert knowledge through a case study on ‘Exploiting the importance of liquidity in capital management.’ This will delve into issues such as Micro versus Macro; assess the ways of adjusting liquidity to risk and the Black Hole Theory!

The Policy Advisor from FSA will inform delegates of the regulators perspective and what they are looking for from financial institutions. There continues to be conflicts between regulators requirements and bank processes which will be discussed and tackled at the event.

The Managing Director at UBS will present a case study to understand and identify the different risks and, for each, what the potential impacts could be on specific institutions. He will also explore new risks to be considered emerging from IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) that may also have repercussions.

The event will conclude with an interactive lunch so that all attendees will have the opportunity to summarize the main topics raised over the conference and matters can be discussed with their peers on a more informal level.

Other invited speakers, range from Financial Institutions including; Danske Bank, Dexia Bank, Deutsche Bank, Bank Austria Creditanstalt, Societe Generale and BNP Paribas.
