Acknowledge the Risks & Ensure Preparedness

Jacob Fleming leading B2B meeting organisers have designed a strategic conference, ‘Emergency Planning and Business continuity Management’ for the Oil & Gas Industry. The event is taking place on the 2nd & 3rd October at a five star venue in Barcelona.

Today, the Oil and Gas industry is ever-expanding and facing new challenges constantly. With the increase in operations, both new and transformed challenges are facing the industry. There are always schemes to prevent an accident or disaster but not all can be avoided; such as terrorism, natural disasters and pandemics (Influenza Flu Pandemic). Whilst the challenges to the industry are evolving, the basic strategies in place remain robust: Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Management (BCM).

Emergency planning allows for the industry to consider worst-case scenarios, whilst effective BCM can pinpoint the key products and services and the potential threats to these. At this event, through its expert speaker panel, Jacob Fleming will address all of these issues.
Senior Safety Consultant from Agip KCO UK will assess all the emergency situations and EER (Escape, Evacuation and Rescue) Performance Standards. He will also demonstrate the adequate provision for the full and safe sheltering, EER and recovery of all personnel in the event of a major accident.

The Safety and Security Manager from Rompetrol will address how to implement and best practice business continuity management. He will share his experience of knowing and understanding the risks and highlight how best to incorporate them into BCM. He will also cover security precautions for IT, Corporate and Internet Security Systems, to establish a better security standard overall.

On day two, as well as many other presentations, there will be an interactive round-table discussion from a group of experts on some past worst case scenarios, led by a speaker from Shell Nigeria. They will discuss common dangers that have led to disastrous incidents in the past and how the industry can learn from the past to prevent future incidents from occurring.
Attendees will have the opportunity to benchmark with their peers and learn about new strategies that will innovate for the future.

The other top industry speakers will be attending from SAMREF, Chevron Nigeria, ConocoPhillips, Shell Nigeria, Agip KCO Kazakhstan, OMV, Marathan Oil, Total Nigeria, Heriot-Watt University, Lamor Swire Environmental, Petrobas, StatollHydro and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
